CO2 Graph

This graph shows the extreme variation in carbon dioxide in the air. There is no delicate balance about it.

There is so little carbon dioxide in the air at this time that all of biology is on the verge of becoming extinct due to the shortage. Plants need carbon dioxide for photosynthesis.

The shortage is due to oceans absorbing carbon dioxide from the air and tying it up as calcium carbonate and limestone. There was a recovery during dinosaur years, as volcanoes took form and put a lot of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. But volcanoes subsided, as tectonic plates got thicker over time. So the carbon dioxide being removed by the oceans is not being replaced.
