The student debt problem is as preposterous as the Trump and fascist take-over of government. It says social deterioration occurred across the board.

Originally, government supported student loans were interest free. Then the conservatives said the government was robbing banks of their capitalism by depriving them of business. So now students pay about twice as much interest compounded annually as home owners can afford to pay.

That's called loan sharking. It causes debts to increase faster than they can be paid. Why aren't students rioting in the streets? Because they are too helpless and overwhelmed; and most of them have nothing to say about the result. Even in the old days, students got whatever someone else decided. Since then, the conservatives did the deciding; and social ruin was the result.

At the same time that students were acquiring debt burdens, states began to spend less on higher education shifting the burden to the students. And at the same time as the burden shifted to the students, colleges went overboard in increasing expenses, primarily by hiring ungodly numbers of administrators. The number of administrators is often more than the number of professors. The point is, take away the responsibilities, and the sky is the limit. That's what happened to the whole society.

The reason that happened is the same reason why Trump and the fascist took over government and are on the verge of creating full-blown Nazism. It's because conservatives overwhelmed the social order due to power mongers taking over social structures and turning them into power structures. The conservative cause is the same thing as the power mongering purpose. Believe it or not, Trump said he was a liberal several years ago. As he acquired more power, he found that he needed to align with the conservative cause to make sin pay. Musk said he was a Democrat, until he found that his power mongering required the conservative cause that republicans now promote.

The most noticeable fact about the student debt is the assumption that the answer is to erase it. It can't be erased. Most of it is owed to banks. Trying to remove the end-point, while the cause still exists, only results in the cause increasing. The government doesn't have the $1.6 trillion to pay the student debt; and if the debt were paid, it would increase at a higher rate to take advantage of the rip off.

That means the problem has to be dealt with at the starting point. The cause-and-effect relationships are at starting points. Education needs to revert back to a public responsibility. When the power mongers run the process and rip off vulnerable persons doing so, the problem can only keep increasing.

Far more relevant than trying to erase some of the debt would be to reduce the interest rate to something reasonable. A good starting point would be to limit the interest to three percent non-compounded. The government could then pay the banks any amount of interest between the three percent and inflation. The banks would rush to make such loans, because they make more money on the loaning process than on the interest.

But the whole process is more of a reflection than a solution. When the whole social order is collapsing and the government is made nonfunctional by the fascists, solutions are not going to occur in any area. Trump and the conservatives shoved experienced and knowledgeable persons out of the bureaucracies and left nothing but incompetent sycophants. There is no way to get competent workers back. Not to mention that the fascists are still increasing in their power and expect to put an end to all opposition in six months' time.

When conservatives say they are going to impeach the democrats when they regain control over government, it shows their infantile standard of throwing all realities back at the source. They said impeachment of Trump, when he broke clear laws, was nothing but a life-style dispute. So now they want to impeach Democrats out of retaliation with no laws being broken. Retaliation as a governmental principle is died in the wool Nazism.
