Steve Jobs only had a few months of college education. It was only possible for him to design the smart phone because of the absence of college education. The more education anyone has, the more someone else owns one's activities. Designing isn't possible with someone else doing the deciding.

There is no evidence of anyone who influences the social order knowing this. Evaluators speak as if someone could shape the complexities of society on a whim. They demand that persons with the most power create the solutions to their problems. That ignorance is true even in the U.S. and quite obvious in restricted countries such as China and Russia. In those countries, if someone decides to produce a new and challenging result, it never happens, unless the new concepts can be acquired from the U.S.

All governments can do is create opportunities, they cannot impose complex results. That's why the liberals, being progressives, used to define liberalism as "creating equal opportunities," back when they were in control of the government, which was before 1981. Conservatives do the opposite, as they assume they are going to change the definition of human existence, but they aren't credible on the time of day.

The most obvious way to view this subject is to consider how something complex is produced for solving a problem. Engineers would appear to do the designing. But on their own, they don't design; they are trained to apply mathematics to processes, not to evaluate.

So a designer is someone who goes beyond the engineering such as Steve Jobs. For routine engineering problems, there are consultants who do that. They get on the phone and find out who has experience on each question. Early in the process, the type of materials must be determined. There are specialists who have spent a lifetime evaluating each type of material. If one person doesn't know something about the problem, another one will.

That situation doesn't exist anywhere but the U.S. Even Europeans can't do anything similar, because there aren't a hundred different places to look for a specialist. So the Europeans have to build simpler products where the difficult questions have already been answered. How then can a dictator say, produce some product and outcompete others doing so?

Of course, the same is becoming true in the U.S., as incompetents push their way into social structures for mongering power with no ability to properly do what they are supposed to be doing. An example is the latest aircraft carrier. It was supposed to have eight elevators for moving aircraft from below the deck to the deck. All eight were constructed, but they didn't work, because they were designed for magnetic lifts, while there is no such thing as a magnetic lift. So one elevator of some other type was patched in.

Wouldn't every engineer know there is no such thing as a magnetic lift? Not necessarily. They aren't trained to evaluate; they are trained to reproduce mathematical procedures. When designing is needed by engineers, physicists function as the design engineers. They have to operate on a trial-and-error basis, because there is no real science to physics apart from Newton's laws.
