The Nature Of Trumpism

August 25, 2020

Trumpism was mysterious until now. There was no pattern visible that had anything to do with government. What in that mess was "Trump's base" looking for?

We now see what Trumpism consists of after 3½ years and the round up during the convention. There is a stunning similarity between the message of Trump's promoters and the message of Trump.

Politically, loyalty, loyalty, loyalty is the only thing being promoted by Trumpers. (Vox) But the politics leaves way too much mystery. There isn't enough government in the Trump politics to call it real politics. Instead, the underlying philosophy must be evaluated. It couldn't be clearer.

The most obvious characteristic of Trumpism is emptiness. Total, blank, dark emptiness. Tweeting and name calling don't even enter the realm of government and politics.

Is that what voters voted for? From the celebrations of the result, it seems to be. So the meaning of the emptiness is the answer to the question of what Trumpism is. There is way too much meaning in emptiness in the ruling of the world.

The starting point of emptiness is total incompetence. It's the reason why it gets promoted that creates the significance. Why elect a non-ruler to rule the world? That's where the philosophy comes in.

Persons who find rationality threatening due to a disconnect from objective reality need an alternative method of getting where they want to be. First, strip away what can't be tolerated and then replace it with something else.

What gets stripped away is all rationality, which includes every element of constitutional government based on laws. One person makes up the Trump substitute for government. That's a good thing to the Trumpers, because the replacement for government must come out of the person.

The person replaces five thousand years of evolved laws and ordered existence. Whatever comes out of the person is what the followers live by. That's called a totalitarian dictatorship.

What replaced constitutional government is a totalitarian dictatorship. For at least some of the Trumpers, that's what Trump got elected for—to replace constitutional government and its laws with a totalitarian dictatorship.

However functional or nonfunctional a totalitarian dictatorship is, it's the only method of social control that incompetent corrupters can live with. They cannot live with a government based or laws, because it gives their enemies (the rational world) an advantage over them and leaves them out.

The dictator, having similar values to all incompetent corrupters, is expected to find a method of surviving for incompetent corrupters. The dictator will always fail, but the expectations are high, as long as the works can run on the activity of the previous society.

As time goes on, total social ruin is the inevitable consequence of totalitarian dictatorships, but incompetent corrupters have to see it to believe it. Until then, the results of the previous social order are assumed to be the wonders of the totalitarian dictator on the path to solving the problems of incompetent corrupters.

Trumpers don't have a clue as to what a totalitarian dictatorship is. They just know they want their solution to problems to come out of a person instead of a government of laws.

In fact, that purpose is the essence of the conservative motive. It is what is meant by the small government, deregulation, new normal and morning in America of Reaganism. Trumpism is the end-point that Reaganism pointed to.

It's the default position of incompetence and corruption—rule by whim instead of rationally developed procedures—which is why totalitarian dictatorships are as old as government with no analysis being required. Whim naturally flows out of incompetent corrupters as their solution to problems.
