Fantasy is almost never viewed as fantasy, because separating fantasy from opinion is too abstract of a process. So the purpose here is to separate the fantasy process from the opinion process.

Opinions can be evaluated for evidence; fantasy cannot. Evidence means reality based concerns, where fantasy is purpose based, not reality based.

Purpose based concerns can be disconnected from reality in extreme ways. Not everyone can be so disconnected from reality, but a lot of persons can.

A simple example is Marshall Applewhite disconnecting a group of followers from reality in claiming there was a spacecraft behind the Hale-Bopp comet waiting to pick up the group. They all committed suicide on cue to make the journey.

It was the purpose that clinched the result, not the realities. The realities were close to irrelevant. The purpose was to solve the problems of the persons involved. Normalcy was not solving their problems, so something extremely radical was needed to solve their problems.

What this example tells us is that some persons are looking for the solutions to their problems with no concept of the surrounding realities. When a so-called charismatic person says he knows how to solve their problems, they are ready to believe it. They know the solutions to their problems are not found in the ordinary claims of society; so an extra-ordinary claim could be the answer.

The principles demonstrated by this example are similar to the claim that carbon dioxide is destroying planet Earth and removing it is the answer. The disconnect from reality is the same as in the Applewhite case.

There is not the slightest attempt to relate reality to the result of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Instead the entire relevance is that someone found a new solution to human problems. A disconnect from reality is an essential element of the solution to the problem. If there were a reality element to the subject the result would be the same old failures. The solution has to be radically different to be a real solution.

For these reasons the essence of the problem is the cause of all problems—carbon dioxide making life impossible on planet Earth—and the solution is the solution to all problems—restoring normalcy to planet Earth.
