What Political Scientists Are Getting Wrong

December 20, 2021

What political scientists are getting wrong about the insurrection of January 6 and follow-up is "morning in America." In evaluating social media and Trumpism, they aren't going back far enough.

Morning in America was Reagan's slogan for his success in his purpose in eradicating government. Why argue democracy with corrupters, when they don't want government to exist? Corrupters don't care how government is produced, when they don't want it to exist.

Reagan said government is the problem—not a particular type of government but government. He then promoted the dismantling of government starting with so-called deregulation, which meant throwing out the laws. The basic laws that limit corruption in the power structures were thrown out during the 1980s and 90s.

Power mongers assume they don't need government but the lower classes do. So they expect to gain an advantage over the lower classed by getting rid of government.

They burn tax dollars and prevent more from being collected for that reason. They assume tax dollars will go to the benefit of the lower classes.

The underlying corruption is that incompetent power mongers need to be dominating the lower classes to be winners. Government programs are designed to prevent that from happening.

It wouldn't matter who power mongers dominate, because they simply need to be winners by dominating anyone. So they dominate the most vulnerable persons. The need to be winners stems from the assumption that winning is the test of all that is right in the world of corrupters. That's why Trump cannot allow himself to be a loser. Losing the election didn't make him a loser in the rationalizing of his fascist followers.

Only by pretending to be a perpetual winner can Trump and his fascists justify their fascism. Winning justifies corruption, while losing condemns corrupters. And winning is needed to increase and solidify a group of followers. To be losers would diminish the size of their group and resulting power.
