January 16, 2024 Endless nutrition evaluations are produced as if nutrition consists of moving food molecules around; and nowhere is the tendency more extreme that in the authoritative claim that fat equals calories consumed minus calories burned up, so getting more exercise reduces fat. What they get wrong is defiance of physiology that is under the control of thousands of regulation molecules that determine results in complex ways which are usually too complex to predict. Nutrition is extremely complex being integrated into physiology that is complex. Fat production is regulated through physiological complexities. Certainly, a lot of food will usually increase fat production; but in smaller quantities, the results are very complex. Persons who do outdoor work notice that increased activity results in more fat production, which defies the claim of authorities. Of course, authorities would say such persons eat too much, but they defy the fact that exercise creates fat-producing physiology. Eating less while getting more exercise could be damaging to health, while the physiology is moving in the opposite direction. It should be more than obvious that persons doing a lot of work need more fat as a reserve source of energy. Evolution didn't miss that point. So fat production is promoted with increase in exercise. That result appears to be visible in exercise routines which are supposed to reduce fat. The persons who try to do that keep telling us that they fail to reduce fat that way. They might get a short term reduction in fat through much effort but do not get gains as simply as they expect. In fact, they probably damage their health trying to eat too little while getting too much exercise for such little energy availability. Another example is eating a raw food diet. Fat falls away while the person is more energized. Of course, authorities say that's because there are fewer calories in that diet. They don't know how many calories are eaten; and when eating a cooked food diet, being energized is not the result of eating fewer calories.
Similarly, it's obvious that a raw food diet causes the physiology of monkeys to be turned on. Monkeys ate a raw food diet and needed to be feather weight to climb trees. So that physiological pattern causes fat to be burned away rather than stored while producing energetic activity. There are thousands of regulatory events in such physiology which are too complex to be determined in detail. As evolution got more complex, it kept adding effects on top of previous effects. The balance is a shift in thousands of regulatory effects.
