Trump types pretend that the Corona virus is just like the flu, so they reject advice from scientists refusing to wear masks and claiming scientists lie to them.

The paper masks being used in the U.S. for the general public will reduce the problem by about 10 or 20%. N95 masks for the general public would be an improvement.

The difference is that paper masks only stop the largest droplets, while small particles such as viruses go through. N95 masks stop most of the virus particles.

While individual virus particles will go through an N95 mask, seldom are virus particles individualized. They generally occur in groups being created by droplets. N95 masks will stop the groups or droplets. Then the individual virus particles will usually be dead by the time they are inhaled, because the proteins will dry on the surface and become nonfunctional when there is no water surrounding them. So it's the larger groups that are most relevant. They don't get killed by drying as rapidly.

But there are still healthcare workers who do not have enough N95 masks when the virus flares up. No one is doing a thing about it.

It takes elaborate equipment to create N95 masks. Therefore, the Obama Administration produced a machine for creating those types of masks to be available for a pandemic. One of the first things the Trump Administration did in 2017 was get rid of the machine for creating N95 masks and never replaced it.

No effort has been made in the U.S. to produce sufficient N95 masks over the ten months of the Pandemic—not even enough for healthcare workers, let alone the general public. Instead, Trump claims the virus will go away on its own.

Instead of going away, the virus is making its largest surge after ten months due to schools and universities starting up, while cafes and bars are being opened up.

What persons such as Trump and his sycophants don't understand is that not all diseases are the same, and the new Corona virus is nothing resembling the flu. The new Corona virus attacks vital organs starting with the lungs and often spreading to the heart, kidneys and brain. The flu does none of that under usual conditions.

Trump types keep insisting the Fauci contradicted himself on masks. They say he told them not to wear masks at first and later told them to wear masks. So they don't know what to do.

There was no contradiction in the mask advice and most of the advice was coming from the CDC, not Fauci. Early on very few persons had the virus, so why wear masks? The advice was not to buy up the N95 masks, because critical workers needed them.

A paper mask primarily protects other persons than the person who wears it. Droplets of saliva will be stopped while most viruses will go through a paper mask. So you wear a paper mask for other persons more than for yourself. If you don't have the disease, almost no one did at first, why wear a mask? Trumpers pretend that they were being robbed of something by telling them to not wear masks and then changing the advice.

After a lot or persons had the virus, and often invisibly so, wearing paper masks will reduce the spread to other persons while not providing much protection for oneself. The mainstream media explained such things, but Trump followers don't follow the mainstream media. Their echo chambers don't provide much information. So they blame others for their stupidity.

Even if scientists got something wrong at first, how could they get much right with a new disease unlike any virus anyone has ever seen before? Trumpers pretend that the Corona virus is just like the flu, so nothing is relevant about it and no one should get anything wrong about it. They are beyond nihilists, as QAnon showed. So they blame others for their stupidity.

It doesn't matter to Trump followers whether Trump told them to drink bleach and take chloroquine; they follow him and complain about advice from others.
