Nihilism As Necessity

November 26, 2020

Nihilism is willful ignorance. Ignorance should be no problem, as it is a relative concept. There is always a lot more that everyone does not know than what they do know. But willful ignorance is a problem, as it disconnects from reality.

All corruption is based upon a disconnect from reality. Nihilism is so illusive that it is often promoted as normal or necessary. Persons with power are often assumed to need "deniability," which means they need to base their corruption on ignorance instead of willful destructivity. Ignorance is a common excuse.

Realities create responsibilities. Nihilism gets rid of those responsibilities. There is a major error in judgement in allowing that to happen. It's like someone being unable to drive, so they drive with blinders on.

It's real important to be able to see well when driving. For the same reason, it is real important to be in contact with all realities which are encountered. The ignorance needs to be corrected instead of avoided.

Yet disconnecting from reality is the norm for escapism as a tool for success, at least for persons who succeed as winners instead of competent and responsible persons.

In other words, nihilism is a brushing off of responsibilities. People know what their responsibilities are; that's why they need deniability. The basis of responsibilities is that no one is supposed to be creating problems for other persons. Yet corruption creates problems for other persons.

Lack of accountability is involved in the need for nihilism. Nihilism says problems are going to be promoted but not be attributed to the person who causes them. Misattribution is the shedding of accountability.

Social critics tend to focus on accountability. Where there is accountability, authorities are forced to do the right thing. By escaping from accountability, they can create problems with impunity. Accountability forces responsibility onto persons in decision making positions. Nihilism disconnects from the responsibility created through accountability.

A timid example is needed. (Major examples would get too many powerful persons too mad.) An example is journalists pretending that Trump created a strong economy. The Trump economy was in total ruin by the time the pandemic occurred. International trade was destroyed through hostile relationships resulting in a doubling of the trade deficit and hundreds of corporations were suing the Trump administration for taking them out of competitive trade through tariffs.

So what was right about the Trump economy? Presumably the stock market insanity was the measure of Trump's strong economy. No one could credibly use the stock market as an indication of the economy over the past two decades, since gamblers betting against each other have taken over the stock market since banking laws were thrown out.

This example shows why a disconnect from reality occurs. If someone were to say Trump ruined the economy, they would need to explain the claim and they would be responsible for knowing what happened to the economy. But by passing off a ridiculous claim, all they need to do is blame someone else for the misinformation. So journalists harp on the stock market continuously as an escape from their responsibilities in knowing what the economy is doing.

Multiply that problem to everything in life and you have the essence of corruption overwhelming the social order. The nihilism is the only thing making fraudulent science and technology possible.

Fakery in isolation from surrounding realities is the form of nihilism that jumps out of the Trump administration. Fake numbers are given their false meaning by removing surrounding realities. The most obvious example is labor statistics.

Each labor number is portrayed by Trump as the only economic success that has ever existed. A number such as 250,000 jobs created will be hailed as the only jobs ever created, while there needs to be 280,000 jobs created every month for a normal economy and the Obama administration created 284,000 jobs per month. (The numbers are approximated and they vary each month.) A decrease from normalcy is claimed to be the only real economy that ever existed.

The tragedy of it is that about 90% of the journalists repeat the fraud as if it were fact. To do a correction, they would need to find out the facts. Instead, they reproduce fraud as a convenience.

Rationality is connecting all of the related realities. Nihilism is disconnecting from the related realities.
