The global warming emphasis is moving toward oceans heating and ice melting. Endless media and fake science take up this theme.

It's total fraud, because slightly heated air does not have the slightest ability to heat oceans or melt significant ice. Air does not have the heat capacity. That means air loses its heat without significant change in temperature of water or ice.

It takes 3336 cubic meters of air to change one cubic meter of water by the same temperature. The density ratios are 800 (1 million grams per cubic meter for water and 1250 grams for air). The specific heat ratios are 4.17 (1 calorie per gram for water and 0.24 for air). Therefore, 800 times 4.17 = 3336.

The recent claim is that global warming heated the oceans by 0.2°C. This number in itself is a total fraud. In recent years, a system of buoys called Argo was released into the oceans to determine the average ocean temperature. The measurements showed that the oceans were slightly cooling. So the coldest measurements were discarded to show no change. Sometime later, the claim was made that 0.2°C temperature increase in the oceans was caused by global warming.

It's impossible to transfer that much heat from the atmosphere to the oceans under existing conditions. If this heat went into the top one fourth of the oceans, it would take 13 atmospheres cooling by 1°C. The fakes didn't miss it by just a little bit.

The calculation is this: The mass of the atmosphere is 5.15 x 10¹⁸ kg. The mass of the oceans is 1.36 x 10²¹ kg. The ratio is 264 times as much mass in the oceans as in the atmosphere. Considering one fourth of the oceans, 264 is divided by 4, which equals 66. Considering that the atmosphere changes by 5 times as much temperature, the mass needed is divided by 5, which is 66/5 = 13.2 atmospheres.

There has never been any accounting for cooling of the atmosphere due to heating of the oceans. The claimed global warming of the atmosphere (3°C increase upon doubling CO2) has never varied significantly over the past 35 years, while the effect upon oceans has only recently been claimed. How could the oceans pick up the heat without cooling the atmosphere?

Melting ice with air is even more difficult, as it takes 80 times as much heat to melt a gram of ice as to heat a gram of water one degree centigrade.

What this means is that the small and arguable amount of heat in the atmosphere due to global warming does not have the slightest ability to heat the oceans or melt ice over oceans or on Antarctica or Greenland.
